Minimalism Rooted in Nature

Alma is a Brazilian art and design studio whose visual language draws on the textures and tones of the natural world — earth, stone, foliage, water — and translates them into restrained, considered compositions. Their work explores the territory between geometric abstraction and organic form, finding structure in simplicity without becoming cold or clinical. Series like Metal Brushs and Ancestry show how material texture can become the subject itself, with metallic surfaces and layered patinas creating depth within a deliberately limited palette.

The studio's approach is driven by subtraction rather than addition. Each piece arrives at its final form by removing what is unnecessary, leaving only the elements that contribute to the overall balance. This makes their prints particularly effective in spaces where visual calm matters — bedrooms, reading corners, and living rooms where the art needs to coexist with daily life rather than compete with it.

Format and Framing Options

Fine art paper is well suited to Alma's cleaner geometric works, where the matte surface and sharp detail of 225g paper let precise edges and subtle tonal shifts read clearly. Paper prints are available in A3, 50x70cm, 70x100cm, and A0. For framing, black creates strong contrast with Alma's typically warm, muted palettes, while oak complements the natural tones. Walnut brown adds depth to pieces with darker earth tones.

Canvas brings warmth and tactile presence to the more textured compositions — the texture of 400g cotton gives the looser brushwork a more painterly presence, which suits the pieces where abstraction takes the lead. Canvas prints come in 30x40cm, 50x70cm, and 70x100cm, with an optional floating frame for a gallery finish.
