French Art Nouveau at Its Most Elegant
Georges de Feure (1868-1943) was one of the defining figures of Art Nouveau poster design. His work combines decorative refinement with psychological depth — ethereal female figures, intricate patterning, and a colour palette that moves between muted symbolism and theatrical intensity. Prints like Comedie-Parisienne and Le Cirque Corvi show his range as a commercial artist, while La source du Mal and Woman & Dog reveal the darker, more symbolist side of his visual language.
His posters sit comfortably alongside other Art Nouveau prints and work particularly well with artists like Alphonse Mucha or Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, who shared the same Parisian milieu and visual sensibility.
Choosing Your Format
Every de Feure print is available as a fine art print on 225g matte fine art paper. The matte surface and archival pigment inks reproduce the subtle gradients and fine linework of his original poster designs with clarity and fidelity. Paper sizes: A3, 50x70cm, 70x100cm, and A0. Selected motifs are also available as canvas prints on 400g cotton canvas in sizes 30x40cm, 50x70cm, and 70x100cm — the canvas texture adds warmth and depth that suits the painterly quality of his more atmospheric works.
All prints are produced in our Berlin studio using archival pigment inks rated for 100+ years of colour stability.
Framing Recommendations
De Feure's poster art responds well to all three frame options. Black frames emphasise the graphic quality and theatrical contrast in works like Comedie-Parisienne. Oak frames bring out the warmer tones and add a period-appropriate character. Walnut brown frames work particularly well with the muted, earthy palette of his symbolist pieces.
For poster-format works, larger sizes like 70x100cm and A0 allow the decorative detail to read at full scale — these prints were originally designed for public display, and they benefit from generous proportions. Browse the full Art Nouveau collection for related artists and complementary works.
