Christina Gaude's Fairytale Illustrations

Christina Gaude is a Berlin-based artist trained in sculpture at UdK Berlin, whose illustration work draws on mythology, fairy tales, and the natural world. Her pieces depict fairies, angels, mermaids, and dragons in richly coloured, hand-drawn compositions — created with black fineliner and layered coloured ink. The results feel like pages from an illustrated story that never existed: narrative, detailed, and full of movement.

The collection includes Snow Angel and Angel — serene, ethereal figures — alongside the more dynamic Dragon Race, which brings kinetic energy and a sense of adventure. Seasonal Fairy captures the changing natural world through a mythological lens, while Mermaids offers an underwater scene drawn with the same fine-lined precision. Marie, inspired by a nocturnal dream, sits at the more personal end of the range. Each piece tells its own story, but together they form a coherent world of colour and imagination. This work pairs naturally with other illustrative collections like contemporary artist prints or alongside vintage illustration prints for a gallery wall with narrative depth.

Print Format and Production

All Christina Gaude prints are produced in our Berlin studio using archival pigment inks with 100+ years of colour stability. The prints are made on 225g matte fine art paper — a stock that reproduces the delicate fineliner detail and ink washes of the originals with precision. The matte surface avoids reflections and keeps the hand-drawn quality front and centre.

Paper sizes are available in A3, 50x70cm, 70x100cm, and A0. The larger formats — 70x100cm and A0 — give these densely detailed compositions room to breathe. Smaller sizes like A3 work well as accent pieces in bedrooms or reading corners.

Framing options include oak, black, and walnut brown. Oak complements the warm colour palette that runs through most of the collection. Black frames add a clean border that sharpens the contrast between the colourful illustration and the wall. Walnut brown offers a rich, classic look that suits the fairytale atmosphere. All frames are handmade to order in Berlin.

Who These Prints Are For

Christina Gaude's prints appeal to anyone drawn to narrative illustration, mythology, and colour-rich artwork. They work particularly well in bedrooms, children's rooms, reading nooks, or any space where you want art that invites closer looking. The hand-drawn quality and storybook atmosphere set them apart from photographic or abstract work.

If you are building a wall around illustrative art, this collection sits well alongside botanical prints for organic form, or alongside other contemporary artists who work with figurative, hand-drawn techniques. The fineliner detail rewards larger formats, so consider 50x70cm or above if your wall allows it.
