Where A0 Posters Belong

A0 is not a casual format. At 84.1 × 118.9 cm, this print is taller than most kitchen tables and wider than a standard doorframe. It demands a wall with space — and rewards it.

The obvious spots: above a large sofa in a living room with high ceilings. In a stairwell, where the vertical height makes other sizes feel small. At the end of a long hallway, drawing the eye forward. In a studio or open-plan loft where furniture does not crowd the wall. A0 is also the format commercial galleries use for featured works — if you want that effect at home, this is how.

Measure your wall before ordering. You need at least 120 cm of vertical clearance and 100 cm of horizontal space, plus breathing room around the edges. If the numbers are tight, 70 × 100 cm delivers nearly the same impact with more flexibility.

Choosing Art for Maximum Scale

At A0, the artwork has to carry at distance. You will see this print from the other side of the room, so compositions that work from far away matter more than fine detail.

Landscapes are the natural fit — a seascape or mountain panorama at this scale feels immersive, not just decorative. Abstract prints with large-scale gestures, colour gradients, or geometric divisions become almost architectural at A0, functioning like a design element of the room itself.

Vintage maps and scientific plates also work — their density and labelling reward close inspection, so you get two experiences: a strong visual from across the room and discoverable detail up close. Japanese prints with dramatic wave or landscape compositions carry enormous presence at this height. See the Japanese collection.

Avoid subjects that rely on tiny details to tell their story. A delicate ink drawing that works at A3 can feel sparse at A0 unless the negative space is intentional and compositionally strong.

Framing and Displaying A0

A frame at this size is both aesthetic and structural. Without one, a 225g paper sheet at nearly 120 cm tall needs careful mounting to stay flat. A frame solves that immediately — and at A0, the frame itself becomes a design element.

Black creates the sharpest gallery effect and makes the print feel intentional and curated. Oak adds warmth and works in living spaces where you want the print to feel like part of the room rather than a statement piece. Walnut brown is a strong middle ground for traditional interiors. Browse all framing options in the frames and hangers collection.

Unframed A0 prints ship rolled in a heavy-duty protective tube. If you plan to use a custom frame or have a framer mount it locally, unframed is the right choice.

Every A0 print is produced on 225g matte fine art paper with archival pigment inks, made to order in our Berlin studio. Same materials as every other size in the full catalogue — just the maximum version of it.
