Christina Gaude's studies in fine arts took her from the Rhineland to the tranquil city of Maastricht to study sculpture. Then to Berlin to study for a Master of Arts at the UDK, where she has lived for 25 years, interrupted by numerous trips to countries near and far. The following series of pictures emerged from the beginnings of her work on a journey through the mountains to the Mediterranean, inspired by her experiences of nature and by a nocturnal dream, which is illustrated in the picture “Marie”. The ideas behind for this image was intuitively put on paper with a black fine liner, before adding coloured ink. Her fairytale-like images tell stories of fairies, guardian angels, dragons and mermaids in bright colours and invite you to dream.
