Cody DeLong's Southwestern Landscapes

Cody DeLong is a Portugal-based painter whose work centres on the American Southwest — its canyons, rivers, desert light, and the dramatic colour shifts at sunset. His paintings capture specific moments: the way warm light hits canyon walls, the glow that sits on water just before dark, the layered depth of rock formations seen at distance. This is landscape painting grounded in observation, not romanticised generality.

The collection includes Grand Canyon's Majestic Beauty at Sunset and Majestic Canyon Glow — both focused on the Grand Canyon's layered geology and shifting light — alongside Sunset Over a Tranquil River, which moves the eye from vertical rock faces to horizontal water and sky. Each piece uses rich, warm colour to build atmosphere: ochres, deep oranges, burnt reds, and the kind of purple-blue shadows that only exist in desert landscapes. The work sits naturally alongside landscape art prints and nature prints in our wider collection, and offers something distinct for anyone drawn to the American West.

Paper or Canvas — Which Suits This Work

All Cody DeLong prints are produced in our Berlin studio using archival pigment inks rated for 100+ years of colour stability. Fine art prints come on 225g matte fine art paper — a stock that reproduces the tonal range of the original paintings with accuracy, from the deepest canyon shadows to the brightest sunset highlights. Paper sizes are available in A3, 50x70cm, 70x100cm, and A0.

Canvas prints use 400g cotton with a textured surface that adds physical presence to the work. For landscape paintings with thick, visible brushwork, canvas is often the more natural choice — the leinwand texture echoes the tactile quality of the original. Canvas is available in 30x40cm, 50x70cm, and 70x100cm, stretched over a solid wood frame. A floating frame with a 5mm shadow gap adds a gallery-quality finish.

Framing options for paper prints include oak, black, and walnut brown. Oak works particularly well with these warm-toned landscapes — it picks up the ochre and amber tones in the paintings. Walnut brown offers a richer, more traditional frame that suits the subject matter. Black provides a modern contrast if you want the colour in the painting to do all the talking. All frames are handmade to order in Berlin.

Where to Hang These Prints

Cody DeLong's landscapes work best where they have room to breathe — living rooms, dining areas, or wide hallway walls. The warm palette makes them a good match for spaces with natural wood furniture, earth-toned interiors, or anywhere you want art that adds warmth and depth without being loud.

These are strong statement pieces. A single Grand Canyon print at 70x100cm or A0 can anchor a wall on its own. For a more curated arrangement, pair a canyon scene with a river landscape for a contrast in composition — vertical depth alongside horizontal calm. If you are drawn to atmospheric landscape art, also consider our contemporary artists collection or vintage landscape prints for complementary pieces.
