Space Photography and Telescope Imagery as Art

NASA has produced some of the most visually striking images in human history — not as art projects, but as byproducts of scientific exploration. The photographs from the Hubble and James Webb telescopes, the deep-field surveys, the planetary close-ups from Juno and Voyager — these images carry a visual weight that rivals anything made intentionally for a gallery wall. This collection brings together NASA space photography and graphic material selected for its strength as visual art: nebulae, galaxies, planetary surfaces, and the architecture of deep space.

What makes these images work as prints is their combination of scale and detail. A nebula photograph holds up at A0 because the original data is extraordinarily high-resolution. The colour in these images comes from real spectral data — hydrogen, oxygen, sulphur mapped to visible wavelengths. The result is imagery that is both scientifically honest and visually extraordinary.

From Hubble to Your Wall — Printing NASA Imagery

Every NASA print in this collection is produced in our Berlin studio using archival pigment inks on 225g matte fine art paper. Paper prints are available in A3, 50×70 cm, 70×100 cm, and A0. The matte paper surface is particularly well suited to space photography — it eliminates glare and keeps the deep blacks and subtle gradients that make these images work. Framing options include oak, black, and walnut brown. Black frames are a natural match for space imagery, but the warm oak frame creates an interesting contrast that softens the cosmic scale.

For large-format prints — 70×100 cm or A0 — the level of detail in NASA telescope imagery is remarkable. You can see individual star clusters, gas filaments, and gravitational distortions that are invisible at smaller sizes.
