What a passepartout does

A passepartout is a mat that sits between your print and the frame, creating a clean cream border of even space around the artwork. It adds visual breathing room, gives the print a more gallery-like presentation, and keeps the paper from touching the glass directly.

How it fits together

Adding a passepartout doesn't change your frame size, your print is gently resized so it sits perfectly within the passepartout's window. We mount the print, passepartout, and frame together in our Berlin studio and ship it as one finished piece, ready to hang.

Sizing

The passepartout border is cut to 10% of the frame's longer side. For a 50 x 70cm frame, that's a 7cm cream border on each edge of the print. Match the passepartout size to your frame's size, listed on each product page, so the two are cut to fit together exactly.
