Rafaela Mascaro — Botanical Illustration from Sao Paulo
Rafaela Mascaro is a Sao Paulo-based designer whose illustrations blend feminine figures with botanical elements. Her compositions place women among flowers, leaves, and organic forms — not as decoration, but as part of a visual language about resilience, harmony, and quiet strength. The colour palettes lean warm and earthy, with autumn tones, muted greens, and terracotta running through much of her work.
What sets Mascaro apart from generic botanical illustration is the figurative element. Her subjects are not simply surrounded by plants — they are woven into them. Hair becomes foliage, skin tones echo petal colours, and the boundary between figure and flora blurs deliberately. Pieces like Abstract Autumn Floral and Tea Time Girl show this approach at its most refined.
Printing Mascaro on Paper and Canvas
Mascaro's detailed linework and layered colour make her illustrations well suited to both paper and canvas. On 225g matte fine art paper, the lines stay sharp and the colour transitions are clean — ideal for her more intricate compositions. On 400g cotton canvas, the texture adds warmth to the earthy palettes and gives the botanical elements a softer, more painterly feel.
Paper sizes: A3, 50x70cm, 70x100cm, and A0. Canvas sizes: 30x40cm, 50x70cm, and 70x100cm. All prints use archival pigment inks and are produced in our Berlin studio. Framing options include oak, black, and walnut brown. Canvas prints are available on stretcher bars or with floating frames.
