Jukyong Park

Jukyong Park captures urban life and anonymous figures through layered compositions that move between abstraction and figuration. Cityscapes, cafes, crowds — scenes observed closely but rendered with a loose, painterly freedom. We work with Jukyong Park directly from our Berlin studio.

What Makes Jukyong Park's Work Distinctive

Park's paintings sit between representation and abstraction. Urban scenes — a book cafe, a crowded street, an anonymous figure in a city — are built from bold colour fields and gestural marks rather than precise detail. The effect is familiar yet slightly dislocated, as if the viewer is remembering the scene rather than standing in it. Trained in South Korea with studies in Russia and France, Park brings a range of influences to compositions that feel contemporary without chasing trends. The figurative work carries weight without heaviness, and the cityscapes have rhythm without clutter. Titles like Town Red and Town Gold hint at the role colour plays: not just describing a place but defining its mood and character. Spanish Steps captures the texture of a European landmark through an unmistakably Korean compositional sensibility. Each piece rewards a second look — there is always more happening beneath the surface than the first impression suggests.

Choosing the Right Format

Park's layered paint application and bold colour work translate differently across formats. On fine art paper, available in A3, 50×70cm, 70×100cm, and A0, the composition reads with graphic clarity — strong lines and colour contrasts come forward, making the structural elements of each painting more visible. Frame options include oak, black, and walnut brown. Black frames suit the cooler urban compositions, while oak adds warmth to pieces like Town Gold. On canvas, in 30×40cm, 50×70cm, and 70×100cm, the textured surface adds a tactile dimension that echoes the physicality of the original paintings — particularly effective for Park's more gestural, painterly work. A floating frame gives canvas prints a gallery-level presentation. Browse more contemporary artists we work with directly.

Pairing Jukyong Park Prints

Park's urban subjects and bold palette pair well with other contemporary figurative work. Pieces by Maarten Léon share a similar interest in atmosphere and presence, while ThingDesign offers complementary abstract energy. For a more considered arrangement, combine Park's cityscapes with art that tells stories — the narrative depth connects naturally. Two or three Park prints from the Town series create a cohesive set when framed identically, letting the colour shifts between compositions carry the visual interest. Keep the colour temperature consistent across a wall: warmer compositions (reds, golds) group well together, while cooler urban scenes benefit from a more restrained frame choice like black.

All prints are produced in our Berlin studio using archival pigment inks rated for 100+ years.
