Marja van den Hurk — Surreal Collages That Reimagine the Old Masters

Marja van den Hurk is a Dutch digital artist who creates surreal, playful collages by reinterpreting classical paintings with a contemporary twist. Her work blends old master compositions with unexpected elements — tropical gardens, exotic animals, reimagined landscapes — producing images that are witty, visually rich, and unmistakably her own. Pieces like "Giovanna In Tropical Garden" and "Reclining Tiger In a Rousseau Landscape" show how she takes familiar art-historical references and turns them into something entirely new. Her work has been featured on Dutch television and at interior design fairs across Europe.

We produce Marja van den Hurk's prints in our Berlin studio using archival pigment inks for long-lasting colour fidelity. Fine art paper prints on 225g matte stock capture the sharpness and detail in her digital collage work, while 400g cotton canvas prints bring added depth and texture to the layered compositions. If you enjoy art that plays with art history through a contemporary lens, or if you're looking for work with character from our contemporary artists, her collection is worth exploring.

Available Sizes and Framing

Fine art paper prints come in A3, 50×70 cm, 70×100 cm, and A0. Canvas prints are available in 30×40 cm, 50×70 cm, and 70×100 cm — stretched on wooden bars, ready to hang. Framing options: oak, black, and walnut brown. Canvas prints can be ordered with a floating frame for a gallery-style shadow gap.

All production happens in our Berlin studio. We print, inspect, and pack every order ourselves — no outsourcing, no third-party fulfilment.
